Below is a list of scholarships that are usually offered every year. Therefore, the applications and links may be to the previous year's application. I recommend looking over the application (as they rarely change much), but waiting until the new application is released before spending a lot of time on it.
SD Farmers Union Foundation
For students whose parents are members of SD Farmers Union. Eligible youth include high school seniors who will be freshmen at a post-secondary institution of higher learning and those currently in their freshman year of school at the post-secondary level. Three $500 scholarships awarded every year. Deadline is December of every year.

Dakota Energy Cooperative, Inc. Scholarships
Scholarships available to any dependent of a consumer/member of Dakota Energy Cooperative who is planning on attending a post-secondary school of any type:
-One Basin Electric/Dakota Energy $1000 scholarship chosen based on ACT score, overall grade point average, work experience, school/community activities, and personal statement of career goals.
-Four Dakota Energy $500 scholarships based on same criteria as the One Basin electric scholarship, but must be attending school in South Dakota.
-One Dakota Energy Randy Herr/Ryan Yost $1000 scholarship awarded to a student who will be attending Mitchell Technical Institute in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance Program.
Deadline is February.

Venture Communications Foundation for Rural Service Regional/National Scholarship
Must be a high school senior, a US citizen, be sponsored by a National Telephone Cooperative Association member (ask Mrs. Stevens for help on this), be accepted by a two or four year college/university/technical school, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and express interest to return to a rural community following graduation. National scholarship amount is $2000 with an additional $500 from Venture Communications. Applicants may also qualify for FRS Family Scholarships valued at $5000 each, with preferences given to students majoring in math, science, engineering, or medicine. Two scholarships for $1500 each will be awarded as well. Just one application! Applications must be sent in to Highmore-see Mrs. Stevens for address! Due February 15!

South Dakota Agri-Business Association and SD Wheat Growers Scholarship
Must attend college or two year school in SD, majoring in agriculture related field, and be a customer, employee, or family member of a business belonging to the SD Agri-Business Association (such as Wheat Growers). Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Deadline is March.

Venture Communications Cooperative Citizenship and Community Service Scholarships
Must be a graduating senior whose parents/legal guardian reside in and be an active telephone subscriber within a Venture Communications telephone exchange. Must have a cumulative B average or above grade point average. Scholarships awarded based upon Citizenship, Community Service, Academics, and School Involvement. Twelve $500 scholarships to be awarded. Deadline is March.

Santel Communications Cooperative, Inc. Scholarship
Ten scholarships are awarded to seniors in the Santel exchange who plan on attending school in South Dakota. Parents must be a telephone customer of Santel Communications in Alpena, Artesian-Fedora, Ethan, Forestburg, Letcher, Mount Vernon, Parkston-Dimock, Tripp, Wolsey, or Woonsocket. Due March.

Weskota Foundation Scholarship
Three $600 scholarships awarded to individuals (who live in Wessington Springs service areas) planning a career in a health care field. Scholarships sponsored by Avera Weskota Memorial Medical Center, Weskota Manor Avera, and Horizon Health Care. Deadline March of every year.

Huron Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau Scholarship
Scholarships awarded to seniors living in the Huron area who are planning on attending any SD post-secondary school. Due April 1 of every year.

Farmers Union Insurance Scholarship Program
Twenty-five $1000 scholarships awarded to SD high school seniors whose: parents are policyholders of Farmers Union Insurance, or a member of SD Farmers Union, or a 'Friend' of the Farmers Union Foundation ($25 donation in the past year), or a participant in any SDHSAA sanctioned event (played a sport such as basketball). Current applications not yet available. Due April of every year.

Mid-Dakota Rural Water System Scholarship
Four $500 scholarships awarded to students who will be attending a SD post-secondary school and have a GPA of at least 2.8. Students also must be a child of a member of Mid-Dakota Rural Water or a resident in one of the Mid-Dakota's participating communities. Due April.

Huron Area Community Theater Scholarship
Preference given to those who have volunteered for the Huron Area Community Theater, second to those who have volunteered for any theater entity. Due in spring of every year. Application will be posted here when available.

POET Never Satisfied Relationship
POET Never Satisfied Scholarships are open to students enrolled in any U.S. two- or four-year post-secondary school, regardless of major or GPA. Never Satisfied Scholars receive up to $5,000 each, and will have the opportunity to visit the POET Sioux Falls campus during the school year. Due February 2, 2018.
