There are thousands of scholarships available nationwide. This website focuses on scholarships available in South Dakota, Wolsey-Wessington, and the surrounding areas. National Scholarships



Wendy's High School Heisman
For students who involved in sports, excel in academics, and involved in community and extra curricular activities. First 25,000 completed applications recieve a $10 Wendy's gift card! Due October.



Horatio Alger Association
Financial assistance to students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Due October 25.


Coca Cola Scholars Program Scholarship
Seniors in high schools throughout the United States who meet the eligibility requirements may apply each year for one of 250 four-year, achievement-based scholarships. Due October 31.


AXA Achievement Community Scholarship
Scholarships of $2000 with up to 375 winners nationwide. Only first 10,000 applications will be accepted.
An AXA Achiever must demonstrate:

  • Ambition and drive
  • Determination to set and reach goals
  • Respect for self, family and community
  • Ability to succeed in college
Deadline is December.



GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Annually awards 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Up to $40,000 per recipient. Applications available October and due January. Only first 25,000 applications are accepted.


Washington Crossing Foundation
$1000-$5000 awarded to seniors who enjoy politics, history, etc. Deadline is January 15.


FFA Scholarships
The National FFA Organization offers several scholarships to members who plan to further their education after high school. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation. Applications available November and need to be postmarked by February.



Foundation for Rural Services (Venture Communications) National Scholarships
Must be a graduating senior, have a C grade point average, and express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation. Also must reside in a Venture service area in South Dakota in order to receive a sponsor signature. Thirty $2500 scholarships will be awarded, and four $5000 Staurulakis Family Scholarships awarded to students majoring in math, science, engineering or medicine. Applications available in October, due in March.


Through the Looking Glass Scholarships
Scholarships for students who have a parent with a disability. Check for applications January.

American Legion Auxiliary Spirit of Youth Scholarship Fund
The Spirit of Youth Scholarship Fund is an umbrella that supports three separate scholarship opportunities for participants in American Legion Auxiliary programs. One is for American Legion Auxiliary Junior members; another is for the Honorary National Junior President; and one is for participants in the American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation program. We encourage all eligible young women to take advantage of these scholarship opportunities and apply. Deadline is March.

BBG Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award
Student must have a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work in the past two years and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. 1000 word essay requirement. Deadline November.
